Echoes Sneak Peek: Pearls

The Breathless (the aquatic people of Echoes) do not have paper, ink, or messenger birds, but they have another way of communicating: pearls, grown under the influence of sound-weaver magic.

Murmur pearls look like regular pearls, but they capture and store voice messages, which can only be released from the pearl by their intended receiver. But before you release the message, make sure you’re ready to listen! You only get one chance to hear it. Once released, the message is gone forever.

Twin pearls are grown together in the same oyster-womb, and are thus connected to each other. To awaken this connection, simply tap a twin three times. Any sound captured by the roused twin will be released from the other (like a walkie talkie, except the channel they use is completely private). Each twin in a pair is only a fragment of pearl, but when fitted together, they make a whole.
